SKYE tests the following areas of an individuals functioning:>>

1. PLANFULNESS:

A person who is planful is somebody who is able to design, strategise, program and scenario. He is able to initiate, adapt, think and problem solve. A planful person is able to establish a clear plan of action in his mind and implement it. If the candidate is low on the score it is clear that they are not able to formulate an image in mind, organize information, project it into the future and design their purposes around this formulation. Planfulness is the core characteristic of the assessment and all the successive variables are constructed around this dimension.

2. LEARNING RATE

The learning rate is defined as the rate at which the candidate\s scores change over a period of time. If the rate is positive, the candidate scores improve, but if negative then the scores are deteriorating. The Rate of learning is a good indication of whether the candidate is able to assimilate the information and master the given task over a period of time. Learning problems are indicated by a poor learning rate. Lastly the learning rate shows whether the candidate finds it difficult to assimilate information over time - namely to be planful over time.

3. DECISIVENESS

Decisiveness defines how definite the candidate's decisions are. It is also a reflection of how clear, certain, settled and sure the candidate is. If the candidate scores highly he is regarded as being resolute and clear in his decision making. Poor scores indicate that the candidate is impulsive, uncertain and disoriented. Decisiveness also indicates the candidate\s ability to structure information and act on the resultant paradigm in a clear manner. People who struggle to do this become disoriented, losing the schemata and subsequently acting impulsively and irrationally. Most importantly they deviate from their objective, to be planful.

4. SPEED OF PROCESSING

Speed of processing is the rate at which the candidate is able to adapt, plan, think and institute his purposes. If the score is low, it indicates they are not able to do the planning quickly. The Higher the score the quicker the candidate is able to obtain the planfulness, which is the objective of the exercise.LQ is a cumulative score indicating the candidates overall leadership ability. The LQ score is an average of the scores Decisiveness, Planfulness, and Speed Of Cognitive Processing. The score determines the rate at which a candidate is able to initiate, assimilate and organize, plan, think through, problem solve, adapt his behavior and act in an appropriate manner. This sequence is done with the least amount of impulsiveness action and deviance from the task. LQ is also an indicator of the level of structuring and sustained concentration the individual is able to exercise. In effect LQ is a score designating the candidates Cognitive Leadership ability. It indicates executive cognitive functioning, or the ability to think abstractly and the ability to consider ones own sequence of thinking. This is known as meta-cognition, but can be described as LQ, as it is essential for the effective implementation of executive leadership. Often people with low LQ have a variation of an Attention Deficit Disorder and this score can also be used as an indication of this problem. LQ is closely related to functional IQ but is not an indication of IQ potential. It's more an indication of how the individual is functioning in their environment. Low scores are not necessary an indication of lowered IQ but more an indication of lowered functioning due to poor cognitive processing. This can be addressed with behavioral interventions and possible medical assistance.
